Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences

Welcome to the Master of Science in Medical Health Sciences (MSMHS) program

at Touro University California

This program is designed to enrich a student's academic knowledge base as well as to strengthen a prospective medical student's credentials for admission to medical school. This one-year program consists of a rigorous graduate curriculum in the basic medical sciences and a semester long research internship course.

The faculty at Touro University are committed to education and the development of innovative and effective educational strategies. Students will engage in a rigorous graduate curriculum, consisting of courses in all areas of basic sciences: Anatomy, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Physiology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, and Immunology and Microbiology. The content and rigor of these courses will be similar to medical school and will therefore offer students a sense of the challenges of a medical school curriculum.

In addition to spring semester coursework, students will participate in a research internship in the spring semester with one of the faculty. This internship will culminate in an oral and written presentation. Students will have a broad range of research areas to choose from, including drug design for HIV, microbiology, ion channels, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, neuronal development, obesity, and public health.

After completion of the program, a student will have increased his/her basic medical science knowledge base, will have been fully engaged in a research project, and will have a much stronger application to medical school.

We welcome any inquiries regarding our campus and our program and look forward to your participation in this program.
