Predoctoral Fellowship in
Primary Care Academic Medicine
The Primary Care Department offers two exceptional students from each class an opportunity to extend their medical school education by one year, gaining experience in leadership, teaching and scholarship. Fellows serve as Junior Faculty members, assisting in curricular design, delivery and assessment. The program allows Fellows to pursue scholarship in an area of interest such as clinical research, public health, or medical humanities. Fellows receive tuition relief and stipend benefits over their 4th and 5th years.
For PCA Fellows, this is the sequence of their Fellowship involvement:
- 2nd year: apply for Fellowship at the end of the Fall semester
- 3rd year: core clinical rotations
- 4th year: 6 month Fellowship service term; 6 months of clinical rotations
- 5th year: 6 month Fellowship service term; 6 months of clinical rotations
