TUCOM GHP Scholarly Activities
The scholarly activities conducted by the GHP offer a direct measure of the program outcome. Each year, students who participated in the GHP summer internship are encouraged to carry out field works and scholarly activities during the internship. The scholarly activities involve assessment or screening of healthcare issues or development of strategies in global health fields such as healthcare delivery, communicable diseases (schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, malaria, AIDs, tuberculosis), non-communicable diseases (cancer, anemia, diabetes), maternal and child health, and traditional medicine.
The majority of GHP scholarly works were presented at the International Seminars hosted by the Bureau of International Osteopathic Medicine (BIOM) at the AOA Annual Meetings. As of 2017, 44 awards have been given to student presenters. Among them, 16 awards have been given to TUCOM GHP participants.
